About

Hip Hop Headz (H3)

Why We Exist
Hip Hop Headz (H3) is a community that is dedicated to the manifestation of hip hop in all of its various forms. H3 is a physical instantiation of hip hop and lives through the creative efforts of its individual members working together towards common goals. Practically, H3 throws events, supports individual artists, endorses causes, and participates in any medium that propagates hip hop as a culture and art-form. H3 creates hip hop – H3 lives hip hop – H3 is hip hop.
The purpose of H3 is to unite the hip hop community in Toronto and the GTA, with hopes of eventually expanding beyond these geographical limitations. The founders of H3 recognized that while there are many true hip hop heads in the city, many of them are only affiliated by chance associations at events or know of each other impersonally. Many people in the hip hop community don’t even know each other at all. H3’s goal is to unite like-minded members of the hip hop community to manifest hip hop on a greater scale than the status quo. Instead of the members of the hip hop community operating in fragmented groups or isolated cells, H3 seeks to coalesce these separate creative forces in order to create a powerful, cohesive hip hop community and proliferate the culture of hip hop.
By individual members of the hip hop community coming together, each individual becomes a part of something greater than themselves and is given expanded opportunities for self-expression through hip hop. By contributing to H3, members contribute to the hip hop community and in doing so they advance their own lives and careers in the world of hip hop.

Who We Are
To be a member of H3, one must identify as a “hip hop head.” Whether one manifests hip hop through one of its various elements (DJing, MCing, graffiti, etc.) or takes part in the culture of hip hop in some other way, one can become a member of H3. The only responsibilities of membership are those that members choose to take on and declare that they will be responsible for as a matter of their word. Members are expected to contribute in some way to the community, such as helping plan and promote events, performing, securing media coverage, etc. Simply showing up to events and spreading the word about the community are perhaps the most important contributions that any member can contribute to H3.
